Despite the disadvantages of its light weight I am still able to make it work. I will write to Rapala and suggest they beef up the belly with something stronger then balsa wood. This design flaw may be costly, but the lure is worth replacing. (Note: recently 2 other lures have suffered the same fate), the wire held at the snap swivel and all three fish were netted. My first Scatter rap pulled in 4 Large lakers before a 26"er tore the Hookwire from the belly of the lure. I use it mainly FLATLINE trolling for springtime Lake trout and Landlocked Salmon (also caught a Lake trout off a down rigger at 90ft on my first attempt).The fish love it! During the past two years since I began using the scatter rap, it has out performed other lures about 8 to 1. Emails to Rapala have gone unanswered.Ĭomments: This Lure is a fish magnet! It is best used as a trolling bait. As long as they stay together, these are walleye killers. At $9 per lure, this can get very expensive. This is open water trolling and the bills just "disappear". It's not like we're abusing this lure on rocks or other structure. Unfortunately, on four of the five Scatter Raps I bought, the bills broke off after very little use.
